Playing girl

Boogers and Beluga Whales

For some reason, those two words make Abby smile.  I dont know why.  She hasnt really given us any more real "belly" laughs, but we are getting small ones now daily.  Today, she was laying on her back and talking to the tv, then turned to me and laughed.  Just out of the blue.  SOOOOOO cute.

We have a few big weeks coming up.  4th of July - Abby's first fireworks.  Mom and Dad will be over Saturday.  The next weekend, my Aunt Pat and cousin Kelly are coming all the way from Oklahoma to meet Abby for the first time.  I am SO EXCITED.  Tim's mom is coming at the end of the month.  Now all we need is to see the Steelreaths soon and we will have a full month :)  Of coures they are coming back from their round the country tour, so we will give them a few weeks to recover!

Abby has still all but given up rolling over.  She is, however, sitting very well supported and playing very well in her exersaucer (see video to come soon) and her sassy wall jumper.  She's such a big girl now!!  She stays awake so much more (sometimes good news, sometimes bad).  She still absolutely worships her daddy.  The smile that comes on her face when he walks in the room is simply ridiculous.  She also LOVES her daycare teacher.  I am so thankful for Tamica everyday.  Abby babbles all the time now - but only on HER time.  If you want her to talk, you might as well hang it up!!

I think thats all for now.  See video to come shortly!

Ready for party

Laughter is the best medicine!

So...as many of you have probably heard, Abby Reid has decided she doesn't want to roll over anymore.  Flat out screams every time she's put on her belly.  I've been forcing tummy time and she's been acting a fool steadily about it!!  Anyhow, today, I was back there changing her diaper.  I spread out the blanket and I could see the frustration in her eyes.  So I put her down on the blanket on her back.  I started tickling her.  And she LAUGHED.  Like laughed out loud.  Like belly laughed.  I called Tim back there and he got to hear it too.  It was awesome.  I will go the rest of my life trying to make her make that sound.  And I won't make her do tummy time anymore...well at least for today!

4 Month Visit!

So we got to go to our 4 month doctor visit today!  We actually got to see her REAL doctor - Dr. Oliver - who I LOVE!  I like all the other docs in the practice, but we really love Dr. O.  Abby weighs 15.1 pounds (80th percentile), is 26 inches long (90-95th percentile) and her head is 17 inches (90th percentile).  She's following her curve which is good news!  She has healthy heart, lungs, eyes, and ears according to Doc.  He also said we could start solids!  YAY!  As you know, we have been (illegally!) doing rice cereal some.  Tonight we started "officially."  She had oatmeal cereal (video to follow shortly on blog once it is uploaded to youtube!).  After a few minutes of tongue thrusting, she figured out how to swallow from the spoon and actually started sucking/slurping it off!!  She ate almost a full tablespoon full (mixed with formula of course).  We are to stay on the Alimentum until she's 6 months and then we can try to wean her off.  We tried (unsuccessfully) to get her back on GoodStart, but her splotchy skin rash came back.  I guess she's just going to be a girl with high dollar taste!!  We also got the official word that she IS teething.  He said we may not see her first tooth for 2 more months, but they are pushing upwards and out soon! Lets see, what else?  She got her 4 month vaccinations today.  It was Tim's turn to hold her.  He said "I've never seen her turn that shade of cranberry!"  She screamed like a banshee.  Like a BANSHEE.  She's also been talking up a storm lately.  She woke up this morning at 6:30 babbling and never stopped - except when sleeping, eating, and screaming like a banshee.  She seems to be on target with her social, motor, and intellectual skills - but who really knows with a baby!

Nothing new to report...

Nothing really new.  Abby Reid was 16 weeks old last Wednesday - 4 months in my book, but according to Tim and Pope Gregory, she won't be four months until this Wednesday.  Regardless, my baby is/almost is 4 months old!!  We go to the doctor a week from today for her four month check up.  We have lots of questions...most concerning the start of...wait for it...BABY FOOD!!!!  I can't wait to feed her sweet potatoes, peaches, bananas (yes Daddy, bananas!)!  She is already eating cereal a little bit from a spoon and seems to enjoy it.

Ab seems to be teething.  Before, she was drooling and putting things in her mouth.  Now, she is biting things ferociously, screaming in pain, etc.  Poor baby.  She is not going to be one to suffer in silence!!  Nor is she going to win any citizenship awards with her new attitude problem :o)

Her reflux is doing SO MUCH BETTER.  Let me say that I love Buffer Babies!  If you know anyone that has a baby with reflux, please send them my way and let me tell them about what I know!!  It has made all of the difference in the world with her.  The gas from the new buffer babies is also subsiding.   Of course, just in time for teething and shots next Monday!!

This morning, I woke her up, got her dressed and started giving her her "breakfast" bottle.  She snatched it out of my hands and proceeded to feed herself.  And then play with it.  She is SUCH a busybody!!  She is loving her exersaucer and has learned to press the buttons to make noise!  Oh joy!!!

Teething sucks

Small Victories

So we are on official day 4 of the buffer babies and OTC Prevacid.  Abby is already doing better, despite the gas issues.  She is talking more, laughing more, and just so much happier.  She actually allowed herself to have several five minute tummy time experiences today.  And when they ended, they ended because she was just plain fussy and not in pain and refluxing.  Praise heavens!!!  We also tried to eat our cereal with a spoon tonight.  That did NOT go over well.  She was FURIOUS about the spoon!!

Madison Whitmer Photography!

Abby went to stay with Sonya, Madison, and Rachel today/tonight while I took Tim to dinner at Houlihans for his bday.  While she was there (fussing, pooting, and watching SpongeBob SquarePants), Madison took some awesome pictures and uploaded them to facebook!!  I thought I would share them with you guys!

In other notes, Abby squealed in happiness for the first time today!!  It was AWESOME and totally made my entire day!!
