Belle of da ball...

So we went to a wedding with Abby Reid tonight.  Tim was the photographer for our friend Kristin's wedding.  Kristin looked INCREDIBLE.  I was able to be downstairs with her as she was getting ready and when she put on her dress, I honestly got teary eyed.  Abby was quite adorable as well.  She is wearing dress by Candy and hair band by Frankie :o)

Please allow me to tell you that Abby Reid PUT ON A SHOW.  I say that in capital letters because that is what she did.  She grinned.  She kicked.  She danced.  She played.  She growled.  She laughed.  She was hilarious.  People were coming up and telling everyone that she was a beautiful baby.  I say everyone because I didn't get to hold my daughter for the entire time.  She was passed from person to person.  And, I believe, NONE of them denied her as theirs. They took total credit for the beautiful child that Tim and I brought into this world!  I bet had she been screaming, it would have been a different story, eh?

Updates on Abby's Noggin

So today was the big day.  Our appointment with the "noggin doc."  His real name is Dr. Gorum and I loved him immediately when he walked in.  That is, until he opened his mouth and said, "I'm just looking at y'all trying to figure out who's head is bigger."  He proceeded to tell us that the number one cause of big headed babies is big headed mommas.  And that she has Tim's nose.  We get to go have a CT Scan on Monday to make sure there is nothing else going on, but he thinks it's just hereditary.  Especially since she is on track developmentally.  She performed all her tricks for him and he said she is sitting *very* well for a 6 month old.  And then he made her stand up and held her hands.  She immediately went for his name tag!  I explained that her Aunt Frankie is a nurse and she always wants hers too!!  All that made me feel better about the macrocephaly (big headedness!).  He told me not to go to the "googles" and look it up because it can be caused by all sorts of things that he is positive she does not have.  I do, however, have a friend on my reflux message board who's baby has hydrocephalus and goes for a CT scan this week.  Big prayers for her as they try and find the cause.  As for the plagiocephaly - he says hers is very mild and will straighten itself out.  In no way is it going to bulge forward and mess up her face.  Her eyes and ears are symmetrical, so that's good news.  Anyhow, we go back on Wednesday after CT scan on Monday.  Final verdict!  We also go see about her ears on Wednesday with Brent the awesome PA.

Abby has been sleeping at least half the night in her big bed (crib).  We are soooo proud of her!!  If she wakes up in the middle of the night, we try and convince her to stay, but usually she is waking out of hunger, so we put her in her rock and play.

She also has taken to playing in her pack and play.  She really lunges for her toys now and Tim and I both agree that Howie will be the first thing that she crawls after!!!

Love y'all!  Thanks for thoughts and prayers.

Greetings from Sick Bay, USA

Well, we havent exactly had a banner week of happiness here at the Loreman household.  Beginning with the ear infection that has been plaguing Abby Reid since mid July.  Still here. Still raging despite $50 antibiotic.  We go back on the 31st to "discuss our options."  Yuck.  On top of that, Ab brought home some funk from daycare.  It didnt seem to bother her.  However, it put myself, Tim, and Frankie down for the count.  We are finally fighting our way out of this Daycare Plague of 2010.

(NOT ABBY IN PICTURE) We went to her 6 month appointment on Friday.  Abby continues to meet the milestones she should - with the exception of rolling from back to front.  She just flat out refuses!!  She was in the 70-80th percentile in both height and weight.  Her head size jumped up to the 95th.  The doc was concerned about it because it still hasn't smoothed itself out into a perfect round knoggin.  So we get to go see a neurosurgeon and have a CT scan.  Dr. O says he is about 50/50 on whether he would helmet her or not, so he's leaving it to a neuro guy.  I pasted a picture of a random kid in a helmet so you will know what I am talking about.  Her wearing a helmet for 3 months would not be the best thing - BUT things could be far far worse and I know that.  I have a friend who's son just got out of a helmet and she is thrilled with the results.  I'll keep y'all posted.  For more info go to - http://www.cranialtech.com/.

Have a great night - say prayers for speedy recovery!

Happy 6 Month Abby Reid!!!

That's the last picture I allowed to be taken of me.  Sometime around 4:30 in the morning on February 17.  I was terrified.  All I could think of were those movies about women dying in childbirth (think Jersey Girl!).

6 months ago...it sounds like such a short amount of time...and a long amount of time...but it has flown by...and gone so slow.  It is a strange thing watching your baby grow up.  Seeing her every day, we don't realize how much she has changed from the little ET looking creature below.  She can now sit up, grab things, pass them back and forth between her hands, babble, rock while on all fours, bear weight on her legs, hold her own bottle (when she wants to!), roll from tummy to back (when she wants to!), and many many more fun tricks.  It's incredible to think that 6 months ago, right this very second, she didn't even exist out here in the real world yet.  She was still this squiggly, wiggly, busy alien in my belly.

It is amazing how one little thing can change your life forever.  I NEVER dreamed that Tim Loreman would be such a good daddy :)  He adores this child.  And she worships him.  The smiles that she gives him are like no other.  He gets the best laughs, the best smiles, the best cuddles.

And now for a general update after all that cheesiness.  Tim still has a 4mm kidney stone.  We are waiting to pass it.  If it is not passed by next Tuesday, he has to go in to the urologist and hopefully have it taken care of.  Abby Reid has her (THIRD) ear infection.  We went in and saw PA Brent Smith - who Abby LOVES.  And I mean loves.  She reached out for him 2x to hold her.  Nonsense.  Anyhow, she is now on a stronger antibiotic - a $50 one! - that seems to already be working.  She smiled and played for the first time tonight.  Bless her heart!  She still goes in on Friday for her 6 month well child visit and will get vaccinated that day as well.  YUCK.  Then, we go BACK on August 31 to see Brent again.  If her ears aren't better, then we will discuss our "options."  Undoubtedly, that means tubes.  BOO!!

Anyhow.  HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY ABBY REID LOREMAN!

Chillin. Me exhausted. She ear infected.

End of an era...

We've been in the Fisher Price rock and play sleeper for as long as I can remember.  Pretty much since we got diagnosed with reflux.  I ADORE IT.  We are able to feed her in "bed" when she is hungry.  We can rock her if she wakes up middle of the night.  Well...we ended an era tonight.  We put her to bed in it awake as we have been doing.  She was talking to her "baby" and all was normal.  I came in the living room to finish picking up.  I hear this loud fuss (louder than normal).  I go back there and she has pushed herself up.  Her feet were where her butt goes (still hooked in harness).  She had pushed herself all the way up and her HEAD WAS HANGING OVER THE BACK!!!  She is sooo dang strong.  Needless to say, we will be crib sleeping from here on out :(

Goodbye Rock and Play.  We love you for saving our sleep, our baby's sleep, and our general sanity.

First Week back to work...

This week was Abby's first week back full time at daycare.  $95 a week again, but we LOOOVE our daycare and when I hear what others pay elsewhere, I do NOT complain about our $95.  It's not pocket change, but I know it could be much worse.  And, I should mention again that I ADORE our daycare teacher Ms. Tamicia.  Her little boy starts kindergarten on Monday, so prayers for him and his mommy!!  From all accounts, Abby had a great week.  I think she was glad to not be the only girl again.  Ella Kate is back...they were playing sweetly in the floor when I went to pick up A on Friday.  Abby was eating a red plastic train and EK was pulling Abby's socks off.  So sweet!!  Abby is back on GoodStart for now...and off the (expensive) Alimentum.  You notice I mention, FOR NOW.  I hope that we are able to stay on the GoodStart.  Not just for the outrageous expense factor, but I know it tastes better.  And she eats it better.  She also has a new fave food - we have moved from Stage 1 foods to some Stage 2.  The Stage 2's are combo foods.  She likes Apple Butternut Squash, Apples and Blueberries...but her new favorite is Sweet Potatoes with Cinnamon.  She went crazy for it tonight.  I couldnt get it in her mouth fast enough!  I tasted it though - and it tastes a lot like Aunt Monica's Thanksgiving sweet potatoes.  I'm afraid I might eat the rest of her jar tonight!!  She's been eating breakfast/brunch at daycare and dinner at home.  So we are now on TWO meals a day.  I hope when we go for our checkup mid month that he says we can have juice now too! This girl LOVES to taste new things!

In other news, we got Abby's other new carseat this week.  We will be putting new seats in the car this weekend.  I can't wait for her to get into her big girl carseats.  She will have so much room to get around.  She has also been sitting in high chairs at restaurants.  I can't get over how big she is!!  Abby is still so in love with her exersaucer.  8 times out of 10, if she is fussing, she gets in there and is happy all over again.  It is a lifesaver.  That and her "toy box" idea that her daddy got from the school.  Special thanks to Fufu and Cucu and the Laneys!!  We are now on the lookout for a good deal on a jogging stroller.  Once it cools off, we will be walking every afternoon while Daddy has track practice.

In Howie news, he got a bath tonight and smells of coconut and oatmeal.  He didn't love the bath, but he loved spending extra time with his daddy :o)

Have a great, happy, rest of weekend!

Still lovin my saucer!!

random notes from a random day...

So.  I figured out today why Abby Reid is so spoiled.  I got to daycare to pick her up and she was in her swing fussing away.  I walked up to her and asked what her problem was.  Of course, then she started grinning and talking.  Tamica (her teacher) said she was exhausted because she hadn't slept all day.  Apparently, during her normal nap time, Abby got to walk around and visit the big kids with one of the office people.  I asked if it was because she was being bratty and they said nope.  Just because she's so cuddly.  Really?  SPOILED!  She also started eating fruit and cereal in the morning at daycare.  They said she is a great eater.  Duh!

Abby also learned to say "bah" on command.  I say it, she says it and then laughs.  I love this girl!!  Tim says she has been doing it with him for a few days, but he has no witnesses, so its a lie.  Next, we are working on "mah" and skipping "dah."  That will show him :o)

On top of already being nosy, sweet little miss is also becoming VERY grabby.  We can't walk down the hall without her grabbing the walls, the light switch, the shelf, the picture.  On her changing table, she is grabbing the pad, the lotion, the diaper cream, the wipes, anything she can reach.  It's very cute, but could also be very damaging :)

Tomorrow, we will be heading to Babies R Us to buy her big girl car seat.  Her sweet little toes hang over the end of her old one.  Bless her heart!!

belly laughin

All the news that is the news...

Summer is officially over.  Tomorrow, Abby starts back full time daycare and Tim goes back to work.  Boo work!  I'm sad that I won't get to spend Fridays with Abby anymore.  It was nice having three day weekends with her!!  But there is Thanksgiving and Christmas to look forward to when she is mine the whole time :o)

This weekend has been a blur.  Thursday night we went to some friends house for a bday gathering.  Abby actually hugged Aidan.  It was so sweet.  And made me realize that one day, a stupid boy will break her heart and I will have to kill him.  Friday, Frankie and I attempted to take Abby to Ozark to see Mom and Dad.  It's only an hour and a half drive.  Should have been all good right?  WRONG.  Dead wrong.  Worst.Drive.Ever.  On the way up, Frankie literally had to sit in the back and sing songs to Abby the entire last 30 minutes.  I won't repeat some of the things she was singing, but I'll excuse them because she had to make them up on the fly :o)  We saw Mom, Daddy, Sally, and Mitch, and also visited all the wonderful people of Frit.  We were supposed to go out for lunch, but Sally and Mitch had a car accident :(  Everyone was ok - just shaken up.  So we munched on pizza!!  Then the drive home. Again, Abby made it about 45 minutes before major meltdown.  She is just a social being like her daddy.

Saturday, we went to our friend Emily Harp's shower.  Abby sat with Sonya and chowed on pineapple and commented on all the gifts.  Today, we went to Kristin Wilson's shower, where Abby again sat with Sonya and chowed on pineapple and watermelon.  I'd love to post a picture of Abby in a beautiful smocked dress she got from her Aunt Cheri, BUT....funny story.  I asked Tim to get Abby ready for the shower while I was getting ready myself.  I laid out the clothes and everything.  Tim dresses her, puts her in the carseat and puts her in my car.  I go pick up Sonya and we head to the shower.  We get there and she goes to get Ab out.  She says her dress is wet.  Maybe her diaper leaked?  I said NO WAY!  Target diapers do not leak.  We talked a minute about spit up, sweat, and finally Sonya assures me that it is in fact pee.  So I pull the dress up to see if maybe the diaper was twisted?  What do I find, you ask?  NO DIAPER.  Tim Loreman dressed that baby in a dress and bloomers and NO DIAPER.  HILARIOUS!!

I think that's all for now.  Enjoy the video that is coming.  Ignore my laughter, but brace your heart for Abby's!

Too much!

Too much party today!

And the embarrassment of wetting my pants. Silly Daddy for leaving me diaperless in my dress!
